Designer on a Dime – Eva Mendes

I love seeing celebs mix high and low pieces and that’s exactly what the gorgeous Eva Mendes did recently. She paired a floral tiered Madewell dress ($168) with a $2300 Dior Libertine Hobo.

Definitely a cute look, but here at Living Fly on a Dime we can  recreate the look {floral dress, ruched bag, ankle strap platforms} for much less.

“Designer” on a Dime – Alexander Wang wedge

Two weeks ago I posted the look for less with Nina Shoes’ Yaneli and Giuseppe Zanotti’s Casha. The leopard print wedges had a few similarities, but two of my dear twitter followers informed me the Nina Shoes version is actually closer to the Alexander Wang Alla mule wedge.

I was floored when I saw the Alexander Wang wedge (left). The Nina Shoes leopard beauty is identical and only a tenth of the price.

If you’re not prepared to spend $919 for the designer option, Nina’s is only $110.

“Designer” on a Dime – leopard print wedge

I’m a sucker for anything leopard print, so imagine the shoegasm I experienced when I came across this wedge from Nina Shoes at Kitty Bradshaw’s Blogiversary. The four inch pony hair wedge was super soft and would look great with a mini or skinny jeans.

The wedge is kinda similar to Giuseppe Zanotti’s Casha wedge. However, the $1,428 price tag is insane. And it doesn’t look too practical if you actually plan on walking in them.

Luckily, Nina Shoes’ Yaneli is now available for pre-order. It’s $109.95 and if you use promo code KITTY, you get 20% off.

“Designer” on a Dime – Dolce & Gabbana Miss Holiday Bag

Eva Mendes is a frequent carrier of Dolce & Gabbana’s Miss Holiday tote. It’s stylish and roomy enough to carry essentials and more, but the canvas and leather trimmed bag is almost $3,000 (yikes!). A canvas bag is a great multifunctional piece. It’s chic enough for the office but casual enough for a day of running errands.

If you’re looking for a similar look, Land’s End and Forever 21 have you covered.

Land’s End, $168.  Forever 21, $17.80

“Designer” on a Dime – Jada Pinkett Smith in Fendi

Jada Pinkett Smith arrived at Late Night with Jimmy Fallon in a white hot number. She kept her look crisp and clean with a strapless Fendi dress and peep toe Christian Louboutins. I wouldn’t typically think of belting a peplum dress, but Mrs. Smith makes it work on her petite frame.

Though her look is quite chic, it’s quite simple look to recreate. Peplum dress + belt + peep toes = Gorgeous. Get the look for (much!) less with the picks below.
