Beacon’s Closet Shopping Trip
This weekend I trekked to Brooklyn for a little retail therapy at Beacon’s Closet. I’ve heard of the store for years, but this was my first time visiting the shop where you can buy, sell and trade your used clothing and accessories.
I was uber impressed on every level. The store was organized, clothes were affordable (most pieces were $11-$15) and the accessories were swoon-worthy.

Kmart Fall Collection
All this week I’ve been hearing about Kmart’s fall collection. Yes, you read correctly, Kmart! Apparently the cheap chic collection has been causing quite a buzz and is even featured in the September issues of mags like InStyle, Vogue and Glamour. So of course I had to get my hands on some photos and give you the dish.
Here’s how the discount retailer describes the collection:
The Fall 2010 Apparel collection is based on the latest trends, pulling from current styles in the fashion world like the Military-inspired Sgt. Pepper Jacket with shoulder embellishments, a Rocker Chic Bomber Jacket and Distressed Skinny Denim. Fall wardrobe basics like the skinny cargo pant complement bolder looks like the high-waisted peplum military jacket. Where Kmart really stands out is in the details. Fine stitching, fully lined jackets, and streamlined silhouettes.

Celeb Style on a Dime
90210 actress Jessica Lowndes recently attended a store opening for Charlotte Russe wearing what else, Charlotte Russe! The ruffled bib and flutter sleeve denim dress ($28) is a cute summery look. She kept the accessories to a minimum and topped off the look with nude, ruffled booties.
If you’re in the market for a denim dress, check out the options below. Just like jeans, they’re versatile and can easily be dressed up or down, depending on the accessories you choose.
“Designer” on a Dime – Alexander Wang wedge
Two weeks ago I posted the look for less with Nina Shoes’ Yaneli and Giuseppe Zanotti’s Casha. The leopard print wedges had a few similarities, but two of my dear twitter followers informed me the Nina Shoes version is actually closer to the Alexander Wang Alla mule wedge.
I was floored when I saw the Alexander Wang wedge (left). The Nina Shoes leopard beauty is identical and only a tenth of the price.
If you’re not prepared to spend $919 for the designer option, Nina’s is only $110.
Wardrobe Essentials for Fall
Though we have a few more weeks to summer, fall is rapidly approaching. That doesn’t just mean a change in temps but it’s time to put away the sandals and shorts and get into a lightweight jacket or wide leg pants. Though some pieces can transition to fall (adding tights under your mini or a cardigan over your favorite tank), autumn brings us new fashion finds.
Below are 5 wardrobe essentials for fall, and they’re all less than $100.
Trench coat:
A trench should be a staple in every woman’s closet. You’ll wear it for years and the classic cut is flattering for all figures. You’re sure to see most trenches in beige or camel, but some brighter hues are also on the market for the lady who wants a pop of color.
